Two Big Cheers for Health

September 3rd, 2010

This month, the September 2010 issue of Health magazine is a new redesign and a thick juicy issue full of great stuff. I’m proud to say that two of my stories hit the issue this month.

First is my sort of “Call me crazy that I don’t like to vacuum naked” essay on what makes some people “naked types” versus people like me, who sometimes sleeps in flannel pajamas with a wool hat and socks when it’s cold out. I can’t show you the whole story as it’s not up online yet, but if you want to read the whole piece (you should!) perhaps this “Let me Google that for you” search will pull it up.

Also in the issue, my cover interview with Molly Sims, the model, actress and now jewelry designer. We had a very chill chat at the L.A. SoHo House, which I know believe can claim the best view of Los Angeles. Guess I need to start sidling up to some other members so I can roll in there more often. Here’s the first spread of the piece, which you can read on that link above to the magazine’s web site.

Hope you enjoy both stories as much as I loved writing them!

If you haven’t yet snagged your copy of the Women’s Health September 2010 issue, I’ll help guide you to the best story in it. Which, oh look, just happens to be mine! Well, I think it’s pretty good anyway.

My story, “The Attitude That Attracts Love” is an important reminder for singles that nothing is more important than feeling good about yourself and your life and passing along that great energy on your dates.

Country Living, Happy Living

August 2nd, 2010

I was happy to see that my latest cover story is on stands this month, in the July/August 2010 issue of Country Living. But instead of interviewing a star, this time around, I interviewed a house. Well, I spoke with the people who live there, mostly, but the house had a lot to say, too.

My story on Tori and Dave Hemingson’s house in Los Angeles is featured as a perfect example of how bright colors and a dash of whimsy make for a happy home.

Try Some Marriage Prep!

July 13th, 2010

I’m excited about this latest news: two contributions in this new book:

I was asked to submit some material to a new book that’s just been published called All-in-One Marriage Prep: 75 Experts Share Tips & Wisdom to Help You Get Ready Now. The book, which is published by Barringer Publishing, features two of my contributions toward preparing for marriage:”The Buffalo Wing Principle” and “Prepare for ‘Mile 18′ in Your Future Marriage.”

If you’re prepping for marriage—or think you someday will—you can find out more about the book on the website for All-In-One Marriage Prep, created by the book’s creator, relationship and marriage coach Susanne M. Alexander. My book, Meeting Your Half-Orange, as well as the websites and my new iPhone App are all cited in the book. You can purchase it here as well.

I’m super proud of my contributions and honored to be featured alongside such incredible experts in the field. The book was first presented at this year’s SmartMarriages® Conference this week, so I’m thrilled to be a part of helping young couples form and sustain healthy relationships.

Everyone has a half-orange out there—and if you want it, he or she can be part of the marriage of your dreams. This book can help.

When Press Gets Press…

July 8th, 2010

I always love to see that someone I’ve interviewed for a magazine is getting even further press for themselves and their projects when other media outlets pick up the story.

My favorite surprise was late last week when I opened up my Yahoo and saw Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks trending as the #1 News story for her quotes in my Health magazine interview with Christina Hendricks. Go Christina!

My Vanessa Hudgens Interview

July 7th, 2010

The August 2010 issue of Glamour magazine is out, and on it? My cover interview with High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens. We spent a day having lunch and shopping at Barney’s (it was a heck of a lucky shopping day for her) and chatting. We talked about her house in L.A., her acting aspirations and her cute boyfriend Zac—who, by the way, I finally “got” when I saw the film 17 Again and thought, “Oh, so this is why everyone thinks Zac Efron is so cute.” A lucky girl indeed.

“What’s Hot”? Half-Orange Optimisms!

July 6th, 2010

It’s been another thrilling couple of weeks for my iPhone App, Half-Orange Optimisms, which can be used as a companion tool for my book Meeting Your Half-Orange. Not only was it Featured on Apple’s App store a couple weeks back, but it’s now been bumped up to “What’s Hot” status!

If you haven’t checked out the App, be sure to. You don’t even need the book to appreciate it. You just shake the phone, and an orange swirls around like a much happier Magic Eight Ball, and then gives you an Optimism to help you flip your attitude a bit more positively for the moments you really need it. I mean, I know it’s hot, Apple knows it’s hot, and I can only hope you’ll feel the same way!
